More employers are becoming optimistic about putting new people on the payroll over the next six months

Survey signals new hiring by U.S. employers
More employers are becoming optimistic about putting new people on the payroll over the next six months, a survey by the National Association for Business Economics found. The percentage of companies hiring new workers has doubled to 12% in October, up from 6% in July, the lowest number ever recorded by the survey. Over the same time period, the percentage of businesses scaling back workforces declined from 36% to 31%, the survey found. "Job losses have been moderating with an improved outlook for hiring over the next six months," said William Strauss, a senior economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
