U.S. is easing into a steady, inflation-free recovery

CPI, unemployment, manufacturing data point to recovery
Jobless claims, the Consumer Price Index and a manufacturing report suggest the U.S. is easing into a steady, inflation-free recovery. Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell last week to their lowest level in nine months. The Consumer Price Index rose 0.2% last month. "Skeptics of the recovery found no friendly economic indicators today," said Bernard Baumohl, chief global economist at The Economic Outlook Group. Reuters (15 Oct.)
